FONTS

Most of the fonts on this page are freeware. However be sure to read the text files that come with the fonts. If there is no text file included then that font is completely free. Some of the shareware fonts are free for non-commercial use, and some of the freeware fonts are only free for non-commercial use.

When surfing the net you may occasionally come across a page that says it is best viewed in a certain kind of font. If you want to view that site as the author intended, then you need to have that font in your computer. There are over 150 freeware and shareware fonts archived here. Plus quite a few links.

For those Mac users who are tired of looking for that special font, I have made Macintosh conversions of all the fonts that didn't already have one. You can also find a tool to convert Windows True Type fonts into Mac fonts under Utilities.

Besides using them for the regular text on the page, fonts
are used when making graphic banners,
(such as the one I made at the top of this page)
I use Type Styler and Adobe Photoshop to create my banners with.
Not all fonts work well with Type Styler.
The Font Ruritania will crash Type Styler but all
fonts seem to work fine in Photoshop.

Downloading

Windows

The Windows font files are all compressed in zip format. You can uncompress them using PKUNZIP or WINZIP or any other unzipping program. If you still don't have one, go to WWW.DOWNLOAD.COM
and get one. I'ld suggest WINZIP.
Unzip the file and then install it via the fonts icon on the control panel.

MACINTOSH

The Mac files are in sit.bin, hqx and zip format. Got to WWW.DOWNLOAD.COM
and get the appropriate programs for decompressing. Stuff It is best on the non-zip files.
Decompress the files then drag the font suitcases onto your system folder. The computer
will respond that it needs to put them in the fonts folder, let it.
